He Pā Wānanga
We are supporting the Nōku Te Ao Charitable Trust to scale their highly successful whole-of-whānau education and wellbeing system in Ōtautahi Christchurch. Te Pā Wānanga is a proven, 21st-century learning village that is nurturing, growing and empowering the next generation of Māori explorers, navigators and leaders in Te Waipounamu (The South Island).
Te Pā o Rākaihautū
Te Pā o Rākaihautū, the South Island’s only kura ā-iwi (a state school mandated by local iwi), opened in 2014; more than a decade later, its tamariki (children) continue to achieve above-average results in NCEA, emphasise well‑being through programmes like Pā Wānanga and Puku Māra - an indigenous composting project to heal the land and feed the community - and produce confident, bilingual graduates. Kia Kotahi Ako is committed to walking alongside Te Pā with continued programme support, advocacy, fundraising, and storytelling.
In 2024, we connected and supported Te Pā to win the global Zayed Sustainability Prize (USD$150k) for their Puku Māra composting project, which will support the health and wellbeing of over 1,000 community members.
